Zuhause
A is for Alphabet 2023 (from the solo exhibition zuhause/at home)
Here the letter A primarily represents the alphabet and therefore language. It also represents Australia, Austria, Anna (my wife) and in German: Aufenthaltsbewilligung - that very sought-after document allowing a person to reside in a foreign country.
Printed on the sides of this oversized cardboard object are reproductions of hand written letters between family in Austria and Australia.
Subtly engraved on the face, utilising the crease feature of the cut and crease machine used to create folded cartons, are approximately 30 residential addresses where I have lived in the past.
